In spring 2023, Rosalie Fish, a 麻豆村 graduate and Cowlitz Tribal member visited campus and spoke about the ongoing crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women and people (MMIWP). Following her talk, Green River engaged in dialogue with indigenous and community stakeholders about ways in which the campus could be proactive on behalf of our Indigenous peers and community members and make visible our support in addressing this issue. We do not want to contribute to its erasure.
As a result of this ongoing dialogue, we encourage you to sign up for the Washington State Patrol Alert System. This alert system is the first of its kind in the country. It provides up to date email alerts to subscribers to share available information. In the near future, we hope to also raise the profile of local and statewide missing people on this page. The Washington State Community and Technical College system is uniquely positioned to address this issue through our web presence and our shared communities.
