How:
Join us on Wednesday, August 21 for a day of interactive workshops geared to help new Running Start students make a smooth and successful transition to college. To help create community, this is a Running Start student-only event, limited to 150 participants. Choose from several workshops or an activity each hour to build your toolbox as a student. Check-in and a welcome begins at noon, with three workshops following that each hour, at 1, 2, and 3 p.m.
Choose from the following workshops:
College 101: Get to know college degrees, terms, and how to make the most of your time at GRC.
Self-Advocacy: You're entering an adult learning environment where you have to speak up for yourself. Learn how to ask for help so you can be successful.
Day Zero Prep: There's a lot to do to be ready for the first day of classes. Books? Email? Supplies? Payment? We'll cover all that and more!
Study Skills: Learn how to manage your time so you can get everything done. You may only be 鈥渋n class鈥 for three hours a day, but taking college classes requires a lot more commitment and use of new strategies, including how to use your syllabus to earn good grades.
Activities:
- 2-3 p.m. Campus tour
- 3-4 p.m. Student panel
